It has seemed for awhile that the sole news coming out of the Ana Ivanovic–Bastian Schweinsteiger camp (or in the tabloid papers) involved where they were sitting down for lunch and what they wore and ate for those occasions.

Thank the sporting gods for Major League Soccer. Schweinsteiger will soon join the stable of the Chicago Fire squad, and with him comes his wife, Ivanovic, who retired from the WTA Tour in December.

Amusingly, the *Chicago Tribune* itself notes the pair's individual "connections," referring to Schweinsteiger's friendship with countryman Dirk Nowitzki, a tennis superfan and Dallas Mavericks NBA star and saying also that "Ivanovic is close friends with tennis player Sorana Cirstea."

Interestingly, Ivanovic and Chicago Fire head coach Veljko Paunovic are each past recipients of Serbia's "highest sporting honor," the May Award. Per the team's website, its coach won the award last year, whereas Ivanovic was honored to receive it in 2009.

Chicago is not Belgrade, to be sure, but Ivanovic will find herself at home in a way, in the company of her husband's boss.
