It's unclear whether Ivo Karlovic is saying injuries prevented him from being at the top of the ace leaders list, or if all the ace-hitting results in injuries, but in any case, the numbers are impressive.

The 37-year-old's two-year streak with the most aces ends at the hands of John Isner. The American's run to the Paris final ultimately put him ahead of Karlovic's total of 1,131. The tally pictured above doesn't include Isner's three-set loss to Andy Murray in the final, which raised his grand total number of aces to 1,159.

Karlovic was trying to match Goran Ivanisevic's record of six years with the most aces.

The Croat did miss a two month period early in the season (with a knee injury), but finishes the year at No. 20 with two titles. Isner also ends the year one ranking spot ahead of Karlovic at No. 19.
