Karolina Pliskova, the world No. 1, may hit bold shots on the tennis court, but in the announcement-making department, she is quite the opposite.

Pliskova confirmed during US Open media day that she is, in fact, engaged. Courtney Nguyen of WTA Insider told Pliskova that, “You have a thing on your finger” as a way to inquire about the ring.

“Yes, actually, guys,” Pliskova said. “I’m engaged.”

While the 25-year-old Czech did not want to get into any stories about her engagement to Michal Hrdlicka, she did reveal when it took place.

"It happened after Wimbledon, when I had the time off,” Pliskova said. “So it’s almost, yeah, a month and a half.”

If anything else, the quiet reveal confirmed what could have been guessed from her social media pages over the last month or so.

The engagement rumors swirled in Toronto, with Pliskova wearing what looked like her engagement ring during an interview.

Pliskova will begin her first Grand Slam as the world No. 1 on Tuesday inside Arthur Ashe Stadium against Magda Linette.
