Kasatkina keeps riding winning wave in Indian Wells

Daria Kasatkina has taken her hot streak straight to the BNP Paribas Open quarterfinals. The 20-year-old scored a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Caroline Wozniacki in Indian Wells on Tuesday.

She has beaten all of the reigning Grand Slam champions (Wozniacki, Jelena Ostapenko, Garbine Muguruza and Sloane Stephens) in the past year. Is the world No. 19 surprised by her surge?

"Not really surprised. It's going, like, I don't know, just like a wave," Kasatkina said on Tuesday.

The win over Wozniacki marks the Russian's third Top 10 win of 2018. She reached the semifinals of St. Petersburg before storming to the Dubai final.

"I'm just going on court and actually now enjoying every minute during I'm playing," Kasatkina said. "I'm playing best matches against the best players. But as I say, if you want to be on the top, you have to beat the top players. So quite simple rule."

She's getting a lot of confident feedback from her coach, Philippe Dehaes, who rose to viral fame in Dubai with an epic pep talk during her three-hour win over Johanna Konta. Kasatkina was down a set and a break at the time:

Dehaes seemingly greatly believes in his talented pupil.

"Actually, he's just telling me, like, What are you waiting for from yourself? For him is not a surprise," Kasatkina said. "Maybe actually for him is a surprise, but he's trying to stay a strong and confident coach, of course."

Kasatkina next takes on two-time Grand Slam champion, Angelique Kerber.

"In the beginning it was really tough because I was really nervous going on the big stages, on the big courts against big players," Kasatkina said. "But now with experience, with the time, I'm getting into it and I would say I'm getting pretty confident [at] this level already. So we will see what's going to happen next."
