Khachanov, Rublev and more celebrate Moscow's anniversary

It's the 30th anniversary of the Kremlin Cup, and eight Russian men and six women have won the crown since the first tournament took place in 1990.

It was a night of celebration in Moscow as the Kremlin Cup got underway. Players united off the court, hitting the red carpet and mingling with stars, past and present.

Retired Russian champions Nikolay Davydenko and Marat Safin both made an appearance. Davydenko won the title in 2006 and '07.

Daniil Medvedev was the man of the hour, but he would pull out of the event before getting on court in front of his home country.

The flag will have to be carried by other Russians this week like defending champion Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev.

The women's local contingent was strong too with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Natalia Vikhlyantseva and Daria Kastakina attending the event. But Kasatkina, the defending champion, and Vikhlyantseva would drop their openers.

Along with the players' party, the sights of Moscow have been a popular attraction for players.

As the No. 4 seed, Donna Vekic had a little spare time for sightseeing.
