Two stalwarts of screen have joined the cast of Will Smith's forthcoming vehicle about King Richard Williams, father to Venus and Serena Williams.

Dylan McDermott (American Horror StoryThe Politician, alongside Martina Navratilova) and Liev Schreiber (Ray DonovanSpotlight) will appear in the film, per The Hollywood Reporter. It was written by Zach Boylin, among whose other credits is the forthcoming Creed 3, another sports—or sports adjacent, human interest—story.

McDermott will portray a sports agent—think Jerry Maguire for the tennis set?—while Schreiber's character, Paul Cohen, has an as-yet-unreleased role in the saga. Both characters are fictional. Jon Bernthal(The Walking Dead; Baby Driver) will play the part of Rick Macci, the veteran coach who was pivotal in the Williams sisters' development. Smith, of course, will inhabit the titular patriarch's role.

As shown above, McDermott and Schreiber each have tennis-fan bona fides.

The film released its young Venus and Serena actors' identities in January, with Saniyya Sidney set to play the elder sister and Demi Singleton to portray the younger sister/nearly inarguable GOAT.

The film remains set for a November 2020 release.
