As an armed audience watched guard on Wednesday, Andy Murray swept into the third round with a punishing 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 win over Andrey Rublev. Luckily his three knights in armor were attending a night session or who knows how they would have fared in the throes of the Australian summer heat.

The world has seen fan groups of all kinds flock to packed stadiums (Sam Querrey had the Samurais, Eugenie Bouchard has the Genie Army and Roger Federer can get multiple fan clubs in one match), but full armor is surely a first.

Murray was recently knighted Sir Andy, but said he prefers to stick to his regular name.

The suited fans had to be pleased with Murray's efficient dismissal of Rublev, and they had even more reason to smile when Murray himself acknowledged their efforts.
