Donna Vekic's reaction to losing the final point to Johanna Konta was all of us. The Croatian battled for just over three hours, only to fall, 7-6 (4), 4-6, 10-8. By the time she made it to the net of Centre Court to shake hands with Konta, she was in tears, and Konta graciously consoled her.

Vekic had plenty of reason to have hope for a win. She upset the No. 1 Brit in Nottingham just a few weeks ago (also in a three-set marathon) on her way to her maiden title, and all the pressure was on Konta.

Konta advances to the third round for the first time in her career. Earlier in the day, fellow Brit Heather Watson took out Anastasija Sevastova with some ease, 6-0, 6-4. It marks the first time two female Brits have reached the third round of Wimbledon since 1986.

Vekic should keep her head up; she just turned 21, and will have plenty more chances to contest for deep Wimbledon runs. Meanwhile, Konta will have a big shot at the fourth round when she takes on Greece's Maria Sakkari next.
