Svetlana Kuznetsova shared a video of the before and after from her left wrist surgery in November. The Russian was dealing with two injuries to her wrist at the US Open, and played just two matches after (opening-round losses in Beijing and Wuhan).

“I had two injuries in my wrist, so I had to do the operation,” Kuznetsova told Russia’s Sport Express. “There's a very complicated diagnosis. I'm still recovering and the doctor does not talk about specific dates when I can start training and play. Australia, most likely, I will have to miss.”

The world No. 12 wrote a message to her fans about the surgery: "The pain will be forgotten, all wounds will heal, and only the feeling of how exactly you have overcome all this will remain. You have to overcome the challenges with your head high and a broad smile."

Kuznetsova is likely to miss the Australian Open and could also miss St. Petersburg (which is her home city). It will end her 16 consecutive appearances at the Australia Open, the only major she has not missed since beginning her Grand Slam career in 2002.
