Nick Kyrgios's first round appearance in the Australian Open was a straightforward 84-minute win over Portugal's Gastao Elias. In fact, it was such a dominating performance that his biggest concern wasn't even his opponent, but the recurring nosebleeds that happened during the match.

The tournament trainer came and assisted the 21-year-old during a medical time-out. Apparently, this is a normal nuisance for Kyrgios, who spoke on the incident after the match.

"I've always had a problem with bloody noses. I've had bad sinuses so I get that a lot," he said. "I don't know what it is, but it makes me sneeze. It's okay [because] it helps to stop the bleeding."

Unperturbed, Kyrgios dropped the hammer on Elias, losing only five games in three sets, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2. He will face Andreas Seppi in the second round.

The 14th seeded Kyrgios is feeling confident about his chances.

"Well, if I didn't think I'd win it, why would I play?" he said. "I think I can win it. I've beaten pretty much everyone in the draw before. So I think so."
