While most of the Top 25 is still focused on the clay in Roland Garros, Nick Kyrgios' return from an elbow injury continues to play out in a completely different arena. He has committed to play the Surbiton ATP Challenger on grass in London next week—in doubles.

It's not unheard of for a highly ranked player to enter a Challenger tournament when coming back from an injury; Kei Nishikori played two earlier this year. But to play only in doubles is a little unusual.

The best part, though, is that this tactic got him his first ATP doubles title, at the 250 event in Lyon last week. Just days away from Roland Garros, the Australian skipped singles and played only doubles alongside Jack Sock.

Kyrgios announced his withdrawal from the French Open the day after the Lyon final.

As the grass season progresses, there's a chance the Kyrgios doubles infatuation will only get stronger. He has received a wild card to play at Queen's Club with Lleyton Hewitt.

With all of the twists and turns this season, it can seem like a lifetime ago that Kyrgios was battling Grigor Dimitrov in one of the best matches of the Australian Open. One can only guess what he'll be doing come Wimbledon.
