Players are back in the Big Apple for the final Grand Slam of the year, and that means it’s time to keep an eye out for the US Open best looks of the day.

It comes as no surprise that one of the most eye-catching and unique looks from Day 1 belongs to Coco Gauff. The 17-year-old has been designing up a storm with New Balance, one of her very first sponsors, from sneakers to apparel. The collaborations have allowed New Balance to see what Gauff likes to wear and is inspired by, and thus, a beautiful US Open kit was born.

Gauff sported a tank top and flowy utility shorts for her opening match against Magda Linette. The tank incorporated a black and white graffiti-esque pattern. The shorts were hot pink but included a fitted layer underneath that matched the pattern of the tank top. Both the graffiti pattern and the hot pink were elements of Gauff’s recent collection with New Balance, which she drew upon the energy and street style of New York City for inspiration.

What better fit to make her 2021 debut there in? To top it all off, the American added her own personal touch; hot pink streaks in her braids that matched her shorts perfectly.

So not only did the No. 21 seed win in style-factor on Monday, but she also came back to defeat Linette in three sets in her first round. The teen will face countrywoman Sloane Stephens who beat Madison Keys in her opener on Wednesday.

More Coco to come!
