PARIS—Lorenzo Sonego is bopping to the top at Roland Garros, and is set to release a new song to celebrate.

“I’m working on a new song,” the “Un Solo Secondo” singer revealed after a colossal upset over Monte Carlo champ Andrey Rublev. “I think in July maybe is a new song coming.

“Let's see if we do better than the first one. I don't know. Maybe.”

Sonego shocked the tennis world with his 2021 debut, which hit over one million hits on Spotify back in February.

“When my friend and I were young, we would sing a lot of songs together, and so it was a moment for us,” he said during that year’s Wimbledon.

At the time, Sonego was content to be a one-hit wonder, but the song’s Spotify success appears to have inspired the Italian to get back into the recording studio.

Where “Un Solo Secondo” was a reggaeton dance hit, how will Sonego’s second song differ?

“It’s a surprise,” he said with a shy smile.

The unseeded 28-year-old, who reached a career-high ranking of No. 21 in 2021, rallied from two sets down for the first time in his career, shocking the No. 7 seed, 5-7, 0-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5), 6-3.

“I changed a lot of things,” he said in his post-match press conference. “I tried to evolve my tennis on the net and to stay aggressive. Now the tennis change a lot, and this is best level in [my] entire life, and I need to play my best tennis for stay in this level.”

Back in the second week of Roland Garros for the first time since 2020, Sonego will aim to keep the music playing against No. 11 seed Karen Khachanov for a spot in the quarterfinals.
