Marta Kostyuk will compete in the 2023 Australian Open following a landmark deal with Wilson Sporting Goods Co., becoming the first complete Wilson ambassador equipped in a head-to-toe partnership.

The 20-year-old Ukrainian has long used Wilson racquets—currently the Blade v8—but hitherto wore Nike apparel and footwear; she was one of many athletes who parted ways with the brand at the start of the year.

“Growing up in a tennis family, Wilson has always been a trusted staple in my game for as long as I can remember,” said Kostyuk in a press release. “It feels surreal to officially be playing and wearing Wilson; a partnership that I know will inspire and evolve, just as the game does.”

Kostyuk has been one of the game’s most intriguing young stars since she stormed to the 2017 junior Australian Open title. Making her Top 50 debut last February, she has been an outspoken advocate on behalf of her country in the wake of the Russian invasion into Ukraine and made a strong finish to the 2022 season, winning two doubles titles.

“Marta has an extremely sharp game, and we look forward to not only expanding Wilson’s impact in the sport of tennis, but also supporting her as she grows her competitive edge and personal brand,” says Jason Collins, Global General Manager of Wilson Racquet Sports.

The deal with Wilson puts Kostyuk at the forefront of the brand’s latest foray into sportswear that began last year. A Wilson Advisory staff member, the world No. 57 will take the court for her first round against Amanda Anisimova in a Wilson collection inspired by the Australian Open.
