Racquet sports, unite. Tennis commentator, NBC host and 1977 French Open mixed doubles champion Mary Carillo took on Leslie Jones (she of Saturday Night Live and part of the ass-kicking, all-female-cast Ghostbusters fame) in a late-night brawl. Their sport of choice: table tennis. The timing of their showdown: the NBC late-night Olympics show at 12:35 a.m. (EDT), of course.

"That's the smallest tennis court I've ever seen," Jones says in her patented whisper-shout.

Later, when the two decide to stage a head-to-head encounter at such a table, Jones calls out, "I'm coming for you, Mary Karolyi!" The comedian, often outspoken on matters of public concern and recently a headline maker over her dust-ups with some tweet-baiting haters, shouted out Carillo in separate tweets before and after their short-lived, ill-for-Leslie-fated skirmish. On the heels of her one-off ouster, Carillo saluted Jones as her "spirit animal," adding that "There were some very frightened Chinese athletes warming up for the Olympics who were a little taken aback by her bombast."

In the realm of bombast, this wasn't Carillo's best-ever showing at the Olympics. Her now-vintage badminton "rant" of sorts, has taken on life again because, well, we're in the midst of more games. The Summer Games.

Now if only Carillo would join Twitter already. One can dream.
