Mattek-Sands ties fastest WTA serve with 131 mph ace

You could say that Bethanie Mattek-Sands had a good start in Miami.

On Thursday, she ripped a 131 mph ace at 4-4 in the second set against Elina Svitolina. The serve would have tied Sabine Lisicki for fastest in the WTA, but unfortunately it didn't count due to interference.

The American was celebrating her 32nd birthday, and used that positive energy to knock out the world No. 10, 7-5, 6-4.

If you know anything about Mattek-Sands, it's that she's got a lot of energy.

It's the world No. 158's first win over a Top 10 ranked opponent since Wimbledon in 2015 when she beat Ana Ivanovic.

This year is one birthday she won't likely forget.

Oh, and Mattek-Sands is the world No. 1 in doubles. She and Lucie Safarova won their opening round on Friday over Taylor Townsend and Jelena Jankovic.
