Meet the 2019 US Open main- draw wild cards

The last major of the year is almost here and the top names will be faced with a lot of new and up-and-coming names. Here are some notable names in the US Open wild cards field.

Cori "Coco" Gauff

The 15-year-old captured the hearts and gained a lot of fame with her fourth-round run at Wimbledon. Gauff rallied through qualifying before she upset seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams in the first round. New York will mark the rising star's second Grand Slam.

Jack Sock

The American has fallen to world No. 176 after missing six months due to a thumb injury. The 26-year-old has played in the main draw of the US Open every year since 2010, and will be able to keep his personal streak alive.

Caty McNally

The 17-year-old is fresh off a semifinal run earlier this month at the Citi Open. She also captured her first doubles WTA title with Gauff at the same tournament in Washington D.C.

Marcos Giron

Marcos Giron received a wild card into the US Open back in 2014 after claiming the NCAA singles title for UCLA. Now the world No. 158 will get another crack at the top players.

Whitney Osuigwe

The 17-year-old has the potential to make some noise, and she will get the opportunity at this year's US Open. It will be Osuigwe's first main-draw appearance at a Grand Slam.

Christopher Eubanks

With Juan Martin del Potro withdrawing, Denis Kudla gained direct entry into the main draw, freeing up his wild card spot for Christopher Eubanks. The 23-year-old played at Georgia Tech before taking his skills to the pro tour. He's currently ranked No. 191.

Samantha Stosur

Stosur stunned Serena Williams in the 2011 final to win her sole Grand Slam title. The Australian will contest her 15th US Open, and at 35 years old, she will be the third-oldest player in the draw.

Zachary Svajda

Zachary Svajda battled through a four-set match to defeat Govind Nanda in the USTA Boys' 18s National Championships. The victory in Kalamazoo gave Svajda a wild card entry into the US Open.

Katie Volynets

Like Svajda, 17-year-old Katie Volynets captured a wild card into the US Open by claiming the USTA Girls' 18's National Championships in San Diego. She rallied past Emma Navarro in the final.

Francesca Di Lorenzo

The Ohio State NCAA doubles champion made her Grand Slam debut at last year's US Open and captured the Grand Slam's opener before falling the second-round to Kiki Bertens.

The remaining wild cards went to 16-year-old French player Diane Parry, former NCAA champion Francesca Di Lorenzo, US Open Wild Card Challenge winner Kristie Ahn, Ernesto Escobedo, Bjorn Fratangelo, Frenchman Antoine Hoang and Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis.
