Grigor Dimitrov needed help getting off the court after his 6-7 (6), 6-4, 7-6 (3) win over Francisco Cerundolo on Wednesday. Dimitrov was dealing with dizziness, had to have his blood pressure checked and was given some electrolyte-filled fluids. Fortunately, Dimitrov had a day off on Thursday to try and get himself right. Unfortunately, he has a meeting with Novak Djokovic on deck.
I’m not sure I see the Bulgarian putting much of a dent in the scoreboard. So, I’m taking Djokovic to win in straight sets.
There’s always a possibility you get a sloppy set from this version of Djokovic. While he hasn't yet dropped a set at this event, we saw some shaky play when Rinky Hijikata and Camilo Ugo Carabelli forced second-set tiebreakers against him, and we also saw Sebastian Korda nearly win one in the quarterfinals. But we also saw Djokovic absolutely dismantle Lorenzo Musetti, a player he clearly went to the court with a good amount of respect for. He’ll have that same respect for Dimitrov, meaning the Bulgarian should get a highly motivated version of the Serbian. And this head-to-head series has really favored Djokovic in the past.
