Last year the tennis world was shocked to see Frenchman Corentin Moutet spit out a rap song during the tour shutdown due to COVID-19. Fans learned that Moutet is not only a solid tennis player but he also can rap.

In a recent interview with French radio station *Mouv*, the world No. 77 opened up about his future as a music artist and just how passionate he is about song writing and making music.

"Tennis and rap are at the center of my priorities. Maybe a little more tennis because that's what allows me to finance what I do in rap. But I give myself 100% in both. On the pitch I forget the music and in the cabin there is no tennis," Moutet told Mouv.

The 21-year-old has only played two tournaments this season with the last one being the Australian Open, where he lost in the second round to Canadian Millos Raonic. Since then he's been using any free time to write songs and produce new music.

In the exclusive interview, Moutet also opened up about how music was always a form of therapy for him. Growing up, he spent a lot of time away from his family and had time to explore his interests and this outlet was something that stuck ever since he was 16-years-old.

"I had time to kill," Moutet said. "I grew up alone, far from my parents. I felt the need to indulge in a lot of things. At the age of 16, this is the only way I can find expression. I took it a bit like therapy. Especially at the beginning. Then over time I began to appreciate the richness of the French language, to work more on my lyrics, to play with rhymes."

Moutet has a new project in the works and is excited to share with fans. With so much effort and time being poured into his music, the question of what he prefers more came up during the interview.

"In everyday life I prefer to rap. But tennis is cool nonetheless. It’s a crazy sport, and again that’s how I make a living. Afterwards, in the back of the back, I find it more fun to rap," Moutet stated.

Although he's already mad a name for himself as a tennis player, his goal is to ideally have substantial careers in both the sport and in music. He looks forward to extending his music past social media and into live venues , concerts and more.
