For hardcore tennis fans, it’s a rite of passage to wait hours in the sun in hopes that their favorite player will come by to sign autographs or take selfies. At the BNP Paribas Open, Los Angeles resident and longtime fan LaWanda Watts is a fixture in the selfie line.

But now, players are turning the tables on the tennis Twitter-famous superfan—snagging a selfie with the always-grinning LaWanda is quickly becoming the most important item on their Indian Wells to-do lists.

Players like Marin Cilic, Petra Kvitova, Sebastian Korda and more have all stopped before LaWanda’s front-facing camera over the last few days, as the ATP and WTA’s biggest stars prepare for the 1000-level event.

It’s a sentiment shared by several players, who have grown accustomed over the years to seeing her around the practice courts and on the soccer lawn, as well as on Twitter, where LaWanda is a welcome source of positivity for any tennis fan’s timeline.

As far as selfie opportunities go, there are few tournaments that give fans the experience that has earned Indian Wells its ‘Tennis Paradise’ slogan. The site’s layout puts fans right up close and personal with the top players, and that’s not to mention the picturesque desert landscape, which makes a perfect background for any photo.
