In the latest episode of My Tennis Life, starring J.J. Wolf, the 23-year-old Cincinnati native heads back to his birthplace for the city's prestigious ATP Masters 1000 event. For Wolf, the trip was more than an opportunity to play some high-level tennis.

  • He went to one of his favorite vantage points, Mount Adams—a place where he likes to stop and think—to share a glimpse of Cincinnati (and neighboring Kentucky).
  • He threw out the first pitch at a Cincinnati Reds baseball game, with his dad catching behind the plate.
  • He lost his first-round match to Emil Ruusuvuori, 7-6 (2), 6-2—but did so after reaching a career milestone, having recently cracked the Top 100.

"Just kind of good to see some hard work pay off," said Wolf, whose recent quarterfinal run at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. included wins over Denis Shapovalov and Holger Rune. "Still going to stay hungry for more. But it was kind of a cool accomplishment to stare with my family, and friends."
