Osaka has retired from tennis. No, don't worry, it's not Naomi.

Her older sister, Mari, announced on Instagram that after a short-lived career the 24-year-old is retiring from tennis. However, the match was, apparently, not made in heaven, as the Mari called the journey one that she "didn't enjoy ultimately."

Mari's career never took off quite like her younger sister. The Japanese player earned $90,000 during her seven years on tour. In the spring of 2018, she reached a career-high ranking of No. 280, but has fallen to No. 335 since then. This year, she only competed in a single event, losing in the first qualifying round of an ITF event in Georgia.

Despite earning no career titles, the 24-year-old did reach four ITF finals during her career, with the last one coming in October 2018 in Florence; she lost to Bianca Andreescu, 4-6, 6-2, 3-6.

At least the sisters were able to compete together. The first time the two played in the same tournament was in March 2019 when the pair competed in the Miami Open's main draw.
