Tennis loves to cross over into mainstream pop culture news and this week Martina Navratilova did just that by appearing in *PEOPLE* magazine. The 18-time Grand Slam champion discussed how the pandemic has changed the Grand Slam scene from player entry lists to fan attendance.

She compared the atmosphere at every match in Paris to late-night matches when fans have already headed home. The comparison is spot on with just 1,000 spectators allowed on the grounds each day.

Navratilova credited the French Tennis Federation for making the tournament possible and ensuring everyone felt safe.

She isn't the only one gracing PEOPLE's pages these days. Caroline Wozniacki recently appeared in a feature talking about what her retirement has been like during COVID-19. The 2018 Australian Open champion revealed that she considered driving 15 hours to visit her friend Serena Williams when they were both in the United States.

Serena withdrew from her second round in Paris. A new women's champion is guaranteed to be crowned this weekend.
