On Thursday at the Brisbane International, Novak Djokovic improved his remarkable record over Gael Monfils to 20-0.

The top seed went three for three on his break points in a 6-3, 6-3 victory to line up a quarterfinal meeting with Reilly Opelka.

“It was a special match in a way playing a 37-year-old versus 38-year-old on the tour in the first tournament of God knows what season of ours that we have in our career,” Djokovic told press afterwards. “I enjoyed it. I think it was a good quality match.”

While 20 straight wins over any opponent is monumental in itself, Djokovic has his eyes on a slightly higher number later this month at the Australian Open. Could Pikachu play a role in manifesting major No. 25?

Last weekend, Djokovic was spotted wearing a backpack adorning the beloved Pokémon character upon arriving Down Under. Pikachu just so happens to be No. 25 in Pokémon's index "Pokédex"—and the Serbian is well aware of the theories discussed online about the possible connection.

“I have seen. It makes me laugh. I love it,” reacted the world No. 7.

As Djokovic shared, the bag isn’t his. Did the Belgrade native’s eldest born Stefan turn to an electric force in an effort to help his father complete the groundbreaking achievement by choosing Pikachu?

“All I can say is my kids, particularly my son, loves Pikachu. Subtle subliminal messages,” said Djokovic.

Before he chases 25, Djokovic can cross off another extraordinary milestone this week: 100 tour-level titles. With that in mind, best be on the lookout for Voltorb merch!
