Ons Jabeur fell just short of a first Credit One Charleston Open title in 2022, but the Tunisian talent is back with a vengeance 12 months later, becoming the first woman since Serena Williams to reach back-to-back finals in the Low Country.

And the newly-minted finalist hasn’t forgotten her dream of a trophy shoot inspired by The Notebook.

“I'll try to make it to the full shoot this time,” she said after outlasting former champion Daria Kasatkina through a rainy semifinal Saturday.

“If the boat is ready, you know, and just bring Ryan,” she added, briefly forgetting the famed love interest from the 2004 epic. “My husband, I don't think he would mind.”

Jabeur first floated the scenario last season when she reached the final last spring, having finished runner-up at Charleston II in 2021.

“There is, I think, the house or the hotel they stayed in, it’s like not far from us,” she said. “And I checked the lake. The lake is like 40 minutes away.

“So, I’m ready. I just need the trophy.”

Jabeur looks ready to make that dream come true after shaking off a slow start to her season to make it into the championship match without dropping a set so far.
