Aye, let's hear it for the droll, dry humor of Naomi Osaka.

The 20-year-old Japanese-Haitian player who resides in Florida practically re-announced herself (and her heritages) to the world after beating the hosting country's best hope, No. 18 seed Ashleigh Barty, at the Australian Open. In a court-side Q&A that gives you hope for that interview format forevermore, Osaka greeted fans both local and global with a wry self-awareness and a knack for comedic timing, whether always intentional or not. Roll tape:

The subtle hilarity hardly ended there either. In addressing the attentive press later, Osaka delivered yet again, speaking to funny connection with a WTA peer:

Long live the friendship of Osaka and Puig, the perennial fashionista who also picks pals quite well.
