Raducanu England OOTD

Britain’s No. 3 Emma Raducanu has been inspired by England’s national football team this fortnight—on and off the lawns of the All England Club—as she powered her way to the third round at Wimbledon.

In the first round, Raducanu joked about “winning ugly” after her topsy-turvy 7-6 (0), 6-3 win over Renata Zarazua, and made English soccer legend David Beckham grin with pride as he watched on from the Royal Box. Her Centre Court victory came a day after England’s own 2-1 nail-biter against Slovakia, which saw the Three Lions advance to the quarterfinals of the 2024 European Championship.

It was a different story on Wednesday, as Raducanu returned to the third round with a 6-1, 6-2 rout of Elise Mertens—her first time reaching that stage at a Grand Slam event since her surprise victory at the 2021 US Open.

Off the court, the Bromley native has been keeping the Three Lions close to her heart, too… literally.

Raducanu swapped her practice tee for an England shirt, and her regular tennis bag for a Christian Dior canvas book tote, during a pre-tournament hit at Aorangi Park.

The 21-year-old showed her support for England during their run at Euro 2024 by swapping out her usual Nike practice tee for a national team shirt during a pre-tournament hit at Aorangi Park.

The Christian Dior ambassador also traded her regular tennis bag for the French fashion house’s limited-edition canvas book tote—a colorful luxury accessory that complimented her subtle red, white and blue theme.

Featuring hand-drawn Zodiac figures and classic Dior motifs, the tote bag was personalized with Emma’s name embroidered across the front.

Raducanu’s immaculate practice-court vibes have already inspired many a tenniscore Pinterest board—but more importantly, they’ve been translating to victory after victory on the show courts at the All England Club.

The British player has been rocking pieces from the crisp white Nike Court Slam collection during matches. Raducanu’s dress features a high neckline, a racerback with supportive straps, and two “strategically placed openings on the back” which helps keep players cool and dry.

The Tiffany & Co. ambassador, of course, added her own luxury touch to the outfit with a delicate pearl bracelet in 18-karat yellow gold.

All kitted out: Raducanu charged into the third round at Wimbledon without dropping a set.

Back in 2021, a young Raducanu made her first major breakthrough after reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon as a debutante, and then soon shot to international stardom after winning the US Open later that year as a qualifier. But even all that fame (and the scrutiny that came along with it) felt like it was “just a much smaller scale” in comparison to what the players on the national team experience, Raducanu told press.

The highly touted England team has drawn criticism for its lackluster performances at Euro 2024—something Raducanu can certainly empathize with, after struggling to back up her own success in the wake of her Grand Slam victory.

“They're all under the microscope. I do feel for the scrutiny, because I feel like tennis is just a much smaller scale,” Raducanu reflected. “The whole nation is watching the football. The fans are very, very passionate... I think it just comes with success. It just comes with being at the top.

“I think when they're not talking about you, that's when you need to start to worry.”

Raducanu, a wildcard in the main draw, will next face No. 9 seed Maria Sakkari in the third round. She is also set to team up with Andy Murray in mixed doubles during the latter’s Wimbledon farewell.
