Pandora Playlists: Stephens gets pumped with Drake

Sloane Stephens is used to hearing the roar of the crowd when she walks into the biggest stadiums around the globe. It's in arenas such as Rod Laver and Arthur Ashe Stadium where fans' chanting and cheering is like music to players' ears.

But those sounds have been missing since March, and players have been left in a deafening silence for an extended tour shutdown.

As tennis starts to return, most events will have no fans in the stands. This week in Charleston, Stephens and Jennifer Brady will compete with 14 other WTA stars in the Credit One Bank Invitational. Even without crowd support, players will be jamming out to their Pandora playlists to get in the right mindset for their matches.

So what will these two competitors be vibing out to during their big return? Let's take a look.

Sloane Stephens

The 2017 US Open champion is no stranger to winning on the biggest stages. With her foot speed and raw talent, she's shown the world what she can do. Stephens' 2020 didn't quite start out the way she wanted as she suffered four consecutive first-round losses before finally capturing her first win in March.

The 2018 Roland Garros finalist will be looking to turn her year around and perhaps slide back onto the court "like Michael Jackson," as Drake says in "Toosie Slide." This song as well as other hot pop and R&B tracks can be found on her playlist.

Jennifer Brady

The world No. 48 was acing her way one serve at a time into the deeper rounds of events this year. Brady reached the quarterfinals of Brisbane to kick of the season. The former UCLA standout also made her way to the semifinals of Dubai.

Brady's high-tempo playlistseems to accurately reflect her hard-hitting power game. Eminem, J.Cole, Post Malone and of course Drake are a few names that rev up Brady's engine before showtime.

Stephens and Brady will be joined by Sofia Kenin, Madison Keys, Victoria Azarenka, Amanda Anisimova and more in what will be the largest-scale tennis event confirmed since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
