Paula Badosa announces that she and Stefanos Tsitsipas have ended their romantic relationship

Say it ain't so, Tsitsidosa: The romance between Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas is over. The Spaniard announced Sunday in a statement posted to social media that the couple's year-long relationship has ended "amicably," and that they are "choos[ing] to move forward on [their] own paths."

Badosa and Tsitsipas first coupled up off the court last year, and their whirlwind romance was filled with many high-profile public moments, from the launch of their joint Instagram account that officially put their relationship in the public eye and starring in a joint photoshoot by tennis and lifestyle photographer Radka Leitmeritz, to becoming frequent courtside fixtures at each other’s’ matches and playing together at exhibition events.

The latest update to his social media, though, was one that fans were no doubt unhappy to see.

"After careful consideration and many cherished moments together, Stefanos and I have decided to amicably part ways," Badosa wrote. "We have shared a journey filled with love and learning, and it is as friends with immense mutual respect that we now choose to move forward on our own paths."

As Badosa struggled with injuries that have clouded the future of her tennis career since the early days of their relationship, Tsitsipas remained steadfast in his support of her, both publicly and privately.

“It does create a difficult time for not just Paula but me, as well, having to be there and keep pushing her to kind of get well and jump back on the court,” Tstisipas said in Indian Wells. “On my end, I'm trying to find the right words and the right things to say. ... “I'm just there as much as I can to keep making her feel good that at least we are together and we're trying to find solution together.”

That support likely won't end: Badosa added in her statement that while the pair are no longer a couple, they'll still be cheering each other on as friends.

"We are grateful for the support of our friends, family and all who have been part of our story," Badosa continued. "As we transition into this new chapter of our lives, we continue to wish each other nothing but the best in all our endeavors. We kindly ask for privacy during this time, and we thank you for your understanding and respect."
