Andrea Petkovic knows how to celebrate a win, and how to acknowledge a drought, all in one. It didn't come easy; the German battled past Mandy Minella, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Petkovic hadn't won a match since her first-round US Open win over Kristina Kucova (in her defense, she only played one event since then, the WTA Premier event in Tokyo).

The world No. 57 hasn't won back-to-back matches since Eastbourne in June, but will try to do it against fourth seed Caroline Garcia.
