Pickleball takes over Melbourne after Australian Open crowns Madison Keys, Jannik Sinner champions

The first tennis Slam of the year is officially in the rearview mirror, with Madison Keys carrying her first major trophy out of Margaret Court Arena and Jannik Sinner defending his title.

But court sports action continues in Melbourne, even after tennis traveled to its next destinations. Not only did the Australian Open host its own Pickleball Slam during championship weekend, but the PPA tour is hosting its very own Australian Open through Sunday, Feb. 2.

Top seed in men’s singles Tyson McGuffin, of PickleballTV’s *Making McGuffins*, is into the gold match taking place on Championship Sunday. He takes on 19-year-old Gabriel Tardio.

The two will go from competing on opposite ends of the net to taking the court together as the finals-bound No. 1 seeds in men’s doubles.

The top four seeds in the men’s doubles bracket were the final four teams standing. McGuffin and Tardio take on No. 3 seeds Quang Duong and CJ Klinger in the gold match, and No. 2 seeds Collin Johns and Jay Devilliers will take on No. 4 seeds Joseph Wild and Zane Navratil for the bronze.

No. 1 seeds are finals-bound all around, as Kaitlyn Christian leads the women’s singles bracket, and the team of Tyra Hurricane Black and Allyce Jones headline the women’s doubles gold match.
