Daniel Altmaier continues his march at Roland Garros Only two days after winning his first-ever Grand Slam match by defeating Feliciano Lopez in straight sets, the 22-year-old has proved it wasn't a fluke.
In a second-round clash with No. 30 seed, Jan-Lennard Struff, Altmaier came out victorious, in straight sets, no less. The German came out of the qualifying rounds with three wins, marking his first time in a Grand Slam main draw.
"Personally I'm very happy because I was able to perform pretty well from the first point on," he said. "Today I knew it's going to be a very mental battle because it's going to depends who is going to take the intensity first."
After spending the past two months on the ATP Challenger Tour, he has not let opportunities at the highest level of tennis go to waste.
