This week, there was no other choice for player of the week other than Rafael Nadal. You may have heard by now, but the Spaniard has taken the record for most Grand Slam titles after making an epic comeback against Daniil Medvedev from two sets down in the final of Melbourne. The affair was five hours and 24 minutes in total, making it the second-longest Australian Open final ever.

After losing the first two sets, it seemed like Nadal's dream of winning one more Australian Open title was so far away. However, as all fans should have learned by now, you can never count the Spaniard out, coming back to win the next three sets for the record-breaking victory. Nadal did not climb the rankings ladder, currently at world No. 5, but he is only 295 points behind Stefanos Tsitsipas at world No. 4.

The match itself wasn't the only entertainment. A fan ran onto the court in the middle of the match before being taken off by security. Thankfully, the man was quickly grabbed and the players were kept from harm. It was an unexpected moment that briefly shocked the players and all in attendance. This was Nadal's second career Australian Open, previously winning the tournament in 2009. He never thought over a decade later he would be in position to win the major a second time.

Following his semifinal thriller against Matteo Berrettini he opened up about how special the moment was for him.

"I was close a couple of times. I feel very lucky that I've won once in my career, 2009. But, I never thought about another chance in 2022," Nadal said in his on-court interview with Jim Courier following the semifinal.

The 35-year-old made the most of the moment and seized the opportunity as he always does.
