Karolina Pliskova may be ranked 10 spots higher than Serena Williams but she was the underdog in their Australian Open quarterfinal. After going down 1-5 in the third set, Pliskova seemed out of the Slam. Instead, she saved four match points to take the match, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. No one was more excited than her husband, Michal Hrdlicka.

The 26-year-old Czech married Hrdlicka last year.

Pliskova will next take on Naomi Osaka, who reached her first Australian Open semifinal after defeating Elina Svitolina, 6-4, 6-1.
