Congratulations are in order for Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter! One of tennis’s favorite power couples, on Monday the pair announced their engagement.

The Australian No. 1 and British No. 1 took to Instagram to reveal the news, declaring: “We’ve been keeping a small secret.” Their joint post included a photo of the couple enjoying the sunrise near De Minaur’s hometown of Alicante as Boulter shows off an impressive emerald cut diamond engagement ring.

The news had fellow players, friends and tennis fans alike flooding into the comments to share their congratulations, with Laura Robson declaring it the “best preseason news ever.”

“About damn time,” added Thanasi Kokkinakis, while Marta Kostyuk wrote, “YESSSSS!!! So happy for youuuu” as WTA and ATP stars from Emma Raducanu, Paula Badosa to Roberto Bautista Agut and more joined in.

The pair fueled engagement speculation earlier this week after Boulter posted a photo from the same location with the caption, “Today was a good day.”

De Minaur, 25, and Boulter, 28, reportedly began dating almost five years ago, after Boulter declined the Aussie’s first coffee date invite back in 2020. But they’ve been going strong ever since, and in 2023 the pair even teamed up for mixed doubles at Wimbledon—”the most fun I've had on a tennis court,” according to Boulter.

This year, the couple lifted trophies on the same weekend with De Minaur defending his Acapulco title and then flying to San Diego to watch Boulter‘s triumph the next day. That victory marked the Brit’s first 500-level title, and she finished the season inside the Top 25 for the first time.

De Minaur, who peaked at a career-high world No. 6 this year, made quite a few breakthroughs of his own after reaching the quarterfinals of all four Grand Slams and qualifying for the ATP Finals for the first time.

The couple teased the news earlier this week, as Boulter posted a photo from the same location with the caption, “Today was a good day.”

“She’s kind of given me a different perspective on how to take results,” De Minaur said of their relationship. “I used to live and die by the results, but now I’ve learned to enjoy the process and everything that comes with it. Thanks to her I’ve learned to deal with these losses a little bit better.

“Plus, I don’t want to be cranky when we’re back in the room. I’ve got to sort myself out and snap out of it. She’s been a big help with that.”

For now, though, the happy couple are “officially enemies now” as they’re set to face off in the upcoming United Cup after Australia, Great Britain and the United States all landed in Group C. United Cup action kicks off in Perth and Sydney on Friday, December 27.
