Prakash Amritraj is busy touring the world this year as Tennis Channel's global correspondent. Every day, no matter what city he's in, he's made time to hit the gym, stick to a strict diet, interview the world's best players, and now, writing a monthly column for *GQ India*.

His first entry, titled "Prakash Amritraj on unlocking one’s true potential – and defining one’s true code" shares his back story and how he has found a code to acing life.

Amritraj was a successful junior, college player at the University of Southern California and pro, reaching as high as No. 154. After injuries cut his career short, he pivoted to acting and broadcasting.

He reveals how he became close friends with Serena and Venus Williams, saying he had a front row seat to their title-collecting careers.

"I recall Venus once telling Serena before a particularly high-stakes counter: 'If you don’t do it for you, do it for me… Die on the court,'" Amritraj says. "Venus’ words, and spending time with the Williams family in those years, sparked off my 'Code.'"

What is the 35-year-old's Code?

"To me, it’s a set of foundational principles you believe in so strongly, at the highest level, that it trickles down into every single decision you make on a daily basis," he says. "For me, it makes waking up at 3 am to train possible, because part of my Code is 'using physical training to grow the mind, body and spirit', as well as 'gratitude'."
