Firmly grasp it in your hands: Newly-minted Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz avoided the fumble of the century on Monday morning during a worldwide CNN interview.

Promoted to show the newest trophy in his cabinet to the camera by the "CNN This Morning" hosts Abby Phillip and Phil Mattingly as his interview ended, Alcaraz reaches behind him to pick up the trophy, before the lid detaches and it almost slips out of his hands.

"Don't drop it!" a concerned Phillip can be heard saying as Alacaraz recovers with the cat-like reflexes he so often displays on court. He catches the body of the trophy, quickly settles the lid back into place, before turning back to the camera with a mischievous grin.

Watch the LOL-worthy moment in the clip below.

Although Alcaraz averted a crisis, tennis' two world No. 1's now have something in common.

As WTA No. 1 Iga Swiatek celebrated her Roland Garros victory in June, the lid of the Coup Suzanne Lenglen now-famously fell off as the Pole hoisted the trophy above her head.
