Puig wins ANOC Best Female Athlete award for Rio gold

The 23-year-old won Puerto Rico's first gold medal this summer.

At the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) gala in Doha, Monica Puig took home the award for Best Female Athlete at the Rio Games. Puig won gold in Rio by beating top-seeded players Garbine Mugurza, Petra Kvitova and Angelique Kerber.

Team Great Britain took home the award for Most Successful National Olympic Committee of 2016 (Andy Murray gets plenty of credit for that with his gold-medal performance).
