Last year was another breakthrough season for Milos Raonic. A final appearance at Wimbledon and Indian Wells, a semifinal showing at the ATP World Tour Finals and a career-high ranking of world No. 3 have made the Canadian a force at the top echelon of the tour.

That's why it comes as no surprise that Forbes granted him a spot on their "30 Under 30" list for "breaking records and earning big money on and off the field." Other sport stars on the list include the Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham and Olympic gymnast Simon Biles.

With it so close to his grasp, it's no wonder he is thinking about reaching No. 1. The 26-year-old discussed his chances as he cruised the Brisbane river ahead of the start of the tournament where he was the No. 1 seed and defending champion.

When asked if he can challenge Murray's No. 1 ranking, Raonic was extremely positive.

"I hope so, that's the goal," he said. "It's about going out there every single week and trying to give myself the best opportunities, both physically and mentally, to challenge the best guys in the world."

Raonic came from behind to beat Rafael Nadal in the Brisbane quarterfinals, 4-6 6-3, 6-4, but fell to Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinals. Still, he will look to take advantage of a Top 4 seeding at a major for the first time when the Australian Open begins on January 16.
