Richard Krajicek looks back at his Rotterdam success

This year, the tennis world has it's eyes set on Rotterdam where Roger Federer could reclaim his world

No. 1 status. However, the tournament has a long history before the Swiss stepped on the court in the Netherlands.

Tournament director, Richard Krajicek, is part of its history and he looked back at his two title victories.

In 1995, he took on a fellow Dutch player Paul Haarhuis and according to Karijicek it was "smooth sailing" until it wasn't.

"I actually played really well, served incredibly..." Krajicek said. "I had a big serve match point, but then something went wrong with my knee." He injured his meniscus during the final serve, but still managed to close out point, accepting his trophy with a bag of ice strapped onto his leg.

Then in 1997, just months after a delayed knee surgery, Krajicek faced Daniel Vacek in the Rotterdam final.

"I didn't think I was playing that great really, but somehow I managed to win this match in two tiebreakers," Krajicek said.

Krajicek ended his career with 17 titles and reached a career-high ranking of world No. 4.
