Robert Farah and Juan Sebastian Cabal have partnered together dating all the way back to 2003. Through their love for the game, determination to improve, and will to succeed, the duo has reached new heights in 2019.

The Colombians, who have known each other since they were five years old, have grown to be brothers, and that's what makes their path to the top special. Their remarkable 2019 journey started in April when the pair claimed their first tournament of the year in Barcelona, defeating Top 10 duo Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares in the final.

From that point on, all of the hard-work and perseverance began to shine through on tennis' biggest stages. They took the titles in Rome and Eastbourne, and took their winning momentum into Wimbledon. The pair fought their way to their first Grand Slam doubles victory together after five grueling sets against Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. After claiming the grass-court major, they rose to joint world No. 1.

But the major champions weren't stopping there. Farah and Cabal roared through the US Open draw to triumph again and capture their second Slam.

Now, after defeating Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey in the second-round of the Shanghai Masters on Wednesday,  the doubles tandem have clinched the year-end No. 1 position. This marks the first time since 1986 that an all-South American team has finished the year in the top spot.

Farah and Cabal are set to play Bruno Soares and Mate Pavic in the Shanghai quarterfinals on Thursday. The Grand Slam champions will attempt to capture their sixth title of the year at the hard-court event.

Nearly two decades of fight was required, and Farah and Cabal held steady to their visions, and now they reap the benefits from their perseverance and clear sight of holding up the sport's biggest trophies. And from the looks of it, the Colombians are just getting to the climax of their epic story.
