NEW YORK—Another day, another dominating performance from Serena Williams. On Tuesday night, she took out world No. 8 Karolina Pliskova.

After going down 1-3 in the first set, Williams turned the match around for a 6-4, 6-3 win. She'll next take on first-time major semifinalist Anastasija Sevastova.

The Pliskova match marks Serena's first Top-10 win of her comeback. The highest-ranked player she beat on her way to the Wimbledon final was a world No. 13-ranked Julia Goerges—who she also beat at the French Open.

"That's a really big step for me. Shocking, my first Top-10 win," Serena said. "I really felt like I was playing well in Cincinnati, even though I lost. I was just on the verge. If I could have just had one more match before I played a Top-10 player, I think I would have done better. I'm getting those matches now. Just was so light on the matches.

"So now I feel like I'm at a level where I can play and try to compete against these amazing women in the Top 10."

Sevastova is ranked No. 18. The 36-year-old will be the favorite going into that match despite being ranked No. 26. Speaking of ten though, Serena was asked what is fueling her fire.

"I'm here to do my best. I don't have 10 more years, at least I don't think so. I said that 10 years ago," she said. "I don't think I have another 10 years of having opportunities to be able to play and win championships.

"Every match really means a lot to me. I kind of go out there and I just do the best that I can."
