Serena recognized at Forbes Under 30 summit

On Monday in Detroit, Serena Williams was one of the featured speakers at Forbes Under 30 Summit. She ran the gamut of topics from tennis to fashion to motherhood.

She was welcomed to the stage with a performance of Katy Perry's "Roar" by the Detroit Youth Choir, complete with plenty of tennis racquets.

Other speakers for the three-day summit include Kevin Durant,  Sophia Bush, Olivia Munn, Heidi Zak (ThirdLove), Steve Case (AOL) and John Oringer (Shutterstock). Performers included The Chainsmokers, 21 Savage and Normani.

Serena was recognized for creating her venture capital firm, Serena Ventures.

"We often try to invest in companies that aren't about being the biggest company in the world," she said. "I love investing and I felt like I've always invested in myself and my career."
