As school districts around the country decide whether it's safe to welcome students back to classrooms, Serena Williams is being proactive about the safety and health of children.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion is teaming up with the largest t-shirt manufacturer, Bella + Canvas, to provide 4.25 million masks to underserved schools. The partnership will also supply educational materials to 54 million students across all 115,000 schools in the United States.

Williams knows how important education is, and doesn't want any child to be deprived by not having a mask. Beyond education, kids who don't have a mask can also miss out on government-funded meals and daycare.

"I’m grateful to be able to help educate our schools about this resource, and to be given the opportunity to serve so many students," the 38-year-old wrote on Instagram.

In addition to donating 4.25 million masks, Bella + Canvas will also donate another mask for each one purchased by the schools. The breathable, yet comfortable masks are rapidly being distributed to schools nationwide ahead of the first day of classes.

Williams is also using her S by Serena clothing brand to help donate masks to communities in need. The American is selling four different variations of denim face coverings and for every face mask purchased, S by Serena will be donating ten daily face coverings.
