Serena Williams is no stranger to suitcases, having brought them around the world and back for over 25 years on tour.

Naturally, the 23-time Grand Slam champion has once again lent her considerable expertise to a collaboration with Away Travel for a second luggage collection that will be released on Friday.

"I was really inspired by the colors and architecture I've seen while traveling—specifically, the beautiful blues and greens of the ocean and the intricate details of buildings in some of my favorite cities, like Rome," she said in an interview with *Forbes* magazine.

"I used these inspirations when working with the Away team to create this collection's exterior print," she added. "Like so many, I've been dreaming of being able to travel again safely, so I wanted to bring to life a collection that not only speaks to Away's functionality and my personal style but also gets people really excited about their own future trips."

The American arrived in Adelaide earlier this month ahead of the Australian Open, where the seven-time champion will first play an exhibition before resuming her quest for an all-time record-tying 24th Grand Slam title in Melbourne. On Friday, she'll face Naomi Osaka in one of the day matches.

Williams added a Kid's Carry On to the new collection, created with daughter Alexis Olympia Jr. in mind.

"When traveling with a child, mentally prepare for a long trip," she said. "There is no way around it.. I'm thrilled Olympia will now have her own matching suitcase! Involving her in the packing process also helps her get excited for the trip."

As she adjusts to the Australian heat, the former world No. 1 looks forward to diversifying her travel itinerary in the future.

"After all this time spent at home in the Florida sun, I'm ready for a change in the climate," she joked of plans to fly somewhere cold.
