Sharapova, King support Elton John's charity

The Elton John AIDS Foundation marks 25 years of philanthropy this year, and with that, an Argento Ball gathering brought together luminaries and benefactors from across various industries.

Billie Jean King, Ilana Kloss and Maria Sharapova cozied up for a photo at one point. King and Sir Elton John are longtime friends who have put on an annual tennis-meets-celebrity exhibition event for years.

Sharapova also garnered a snap-and-chat alongside performance artist Marina Abramovic.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation marks 25 years of philanthropy this year, and with that, an Argento Ball gathering brought together luminaries and benefactors from ​media, entertainment, sports and more realms.

Celebrated attendeesat this year's benefit included Elizabeth Hurley, Graham Norton, Trudie Styler, Nicole Scherzinger (Grigor Dimitrov's other half), Alexandra Burke, and Victoria Beckham and son Brooklyn Beckham. Pop star Ed Sheeran provided the evening's live soundtrack.

The EJAF raises funds to help combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic globally. Its U.S.-based arm assists relief organizations in the Americas and the Caribbean, and the U.K. branch works to prevent and educate about the disease in Europe, Asia and Africa.

In 2017, the organization's grant program dispensed $9.4 million in funding to 152 projects intent on fighting HIV/AIDS.

King and Kloss are in London with various priorities both on and away from the courts during the season's third major event. Sharapova, the 2004 singles champion, began her campaign with the best intentions but fell to qualifier Vitalia Diatchenko in three sets.
