The Belgian faced off against Eugenie Bouchard in the first round of Indian Wells, winning a tight three-setter and producing a magic front-facing tweener along the way. Flipkens would lose her next match, but has appeared in four quarterfinals since.
Bouchard's year went a little differently: her loss to Flipkens was the second of a 13-match losing streak. She's going to end her season on a better note though, having won two rounds at the WTA 125K Series in Houston this week.
