On Sunday, the United States closed out a 5-0 win over Switzerland in first-round Davis Cup action. World No. 20-ranked Jack Sock scored two critical points, winning both his singles and doubles matches.

"It was a lot of fun. It's a new generation for us, not having the Bryans is a little bit different..." Sock told Baseline on Monday. "For us, we have four very capable singles and doubles players. We're all really good friends, we're all really close. We call it a fellowship. We're hanging out all week—watching TV, playing cards—but then we went out and we got all the wins."

But by Monday, he had left Birmingham, Ala. for the much cooler climate of New York City.

The 24-year-old got right to work, putting on a clinic and a short Q&A with some lucky local children at the Manhattan Plaza Racquet Club:

Sock is in Manhattan to promote the BNP Paribas Showdown, which will take place on World Tennis Day (March 6) at Madison Square Garden. The star-studded night will feature Sock, Nick Krygios, Garbine Muguruza, Venus Williams, Kei Nishikori, Juan Martin del Potro, Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt in a team format exhibition (featuring Team Americas vs. Team World).

"This being the 10th year of the event, we thought we'd really come up with something that's as different as possible," BNP Paribas Showdown creator Jerry Solomon said on Monday. "We just thought the team format would create some interesting match ups, and give it a little bit more competition."

Ahead of his tennis Madison Square Garden debut, Sock is going to the Knicks vs. Lakers game on Monday night. The Kansas City resident will Snapchat his adventures for the USTA (on the Snapchat handle @USTA).

"It should be fun. I love the NBA so I'm excited for it," Sock said, revealing he's a Bulls fan. "I'll probably cheer for the home team just because I'm here."
