With his 6-4, 6-3 win over Reilly Opelka in the final in Toronto, Daniil Medvedev continued to show why he’s one of the most clutch players in the game today.

The Russian has now won seven of his last eight finals.

The stretch starts after his razor-thin 7-5, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4 defeat against Rafael Nadal in the 2019 US Open final (which lasted four hours and 51 minutes). Since then he’s 7-1 in finals, the only loss coming to another 20-time Grand Slam champion.
