MATCH POINT: N. Djokovic def. M. Fucsovics; Wimbledon QF

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic ended the giant-killing run of Marton Fucsovics in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon on Wednesday, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, and in doing so not only reached his milestone 10th career Wimbledon semifinal, but also recorded the 100th tour-level win of his career on grass.

The unseeded Fucsovics had taken out three seeds en route to his first Grand Slam quarterfinal—No. 19 seed Jannik Sinner, No. 9 seed Diego Schwartzman and No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev.

“Overall, I feel like I’ve been playing, hitting the ball well throughout the entire tournament, putting myself exactly where I want to be: semifinals. Not spending too much energy,” Djokovic said. “Now I really have to be consistent from the first to last point in the next match, and hopefully another one on Sunday.”

Djokovic is now 100-18 in his career on grass, just the fourth active player, male or female, to hit triple digits, after Roger Federer (192-29), Andy Murray (110-23) and Serena Williams (107-15).

His 10 career Wimbledon semifinals are also the third-most for a man in tennis history, after Federer (who’s reached 13, just falling one win short of his 14th this year) and Jimmy Connors (11).
